Tips to Stick to a Diet

Here are some additional tips that may help you stay on track with your diet:

  • Set smaller goals. Don't try to change too much too quickly. Start with small, achievable goals, and gradually increase them as you get closer to your ultimate goal. We always like to see "success", so why not make success easy?
  • Make a plan. Decide what you are going to eat and drink ahead of time. The worst is when you're trapped without any good options. This will help you avoid making impulsive decisions that could lead to unhealthy choices. Yes, you can plan to the unplanned -- keep those healthier snacks in reach.
  • Find a support system. Having people who are supportive of your goals can make a big difference. Tell your friends, family members, or online community what your goals are so that they can help you stay motivated.
  • Don't be afraid to ask for help. If you are struggling to stay on track, don't be afraid to seek professional help. A registered dietitian or certified personal trainer can provide you with the guidance and support you need to reach your goals. There also are a ton of resources online if a dietician or personal trainer are too expensive. Find something that works for you.

Remember, everyone falls off their diet from time to time. The important thing is to give yourself grace and keep going. Small improvements in your diet and physical movement routine can give you huge results down the road.
